Hello! My name is Angelyn, and I love fashion. Maybe a little too much!
Growing up my favorite game to play was dress-up, and I could/would play this game for hours. ‘Fashion’ is a great diversion when you are 8, not so much when you are 30 and have a young child and husband! I’m a little ashamed to admit it, but back before I was a Stay-at-home-Mom (SAHM), I can recall many a day where I was *almost* late for work because I couldn’t commit on what to wear. Uh-oh! This has made me feel more than a little shallow and vain on occasion, and has added unneeded stress into my life, but at the same time, I feel like I can’t help myself. For better or worse, having a sense of style and looking well put together is important to me!
Now I’m a mom, and having my daughter has changed my priorities and the time and energy I invest in how I look a lot! These days I rarely have a strict time when I have to be dressed, and lets be honest, with a 13 month old some days ‘dressing’ doesn’t even happen… and I’m ok with that! I can deal with forgoing make-up most of the time, I don’t really mind rocking the dirty hair look, and am more than willing to modify my wardrobe to be breastfeeding friendly. BUT I am not ready to completely give up looking stylish. Mom’s should be allowed to feel fabulous too! However, occupying a lil one while trying on 20 different outfits before landing on the perfect one isn’t an option. And here’s where Lucky’s 30 Day Challenge comes in! Yay!
What is the Lucky’s 30 Day Challenge ? It’s a month of outfits utilizing only a few staple items, and where Lucky has done all the work for you. All you have to do is look at the picture for the day, put on the corresponding items, and voila! you are dressed and looking stylin..at least in theory! In my (and Nico, my dear friend and fellow month of outfits partner-in-crime’s) case, I decided not to go shopping to try to replicate the staple pieces. I am going to use stuff I already have. Hooray for being thrifty! I am quite proud of my wardrobe, but fudging is going to be inevitable, and it could (read: will) potentially upset the delicate balance of Lucky’s styling…and lead to some possibly hilarious and truly tragic fashion disasters- Oh my!
The benefit of this little exercise is obvious to me: It should save me time, help me mix my own clothes in unexpected ways, and be a fun blogging adventure. Occasionally, (hopefully only occasionally), it should also be good for a downgrading of my aforementioned vanity- in these serious times, I could probably use a bit of that. You know because there is more to life than fashion, probably ;D
So there you go, 30 days of outfits! I hope that you will come along for the ride!
