Hmm...How can I be two places at once?
This is day nineteen of a series I’m doing that features a month of outfits. Read my intro here, find out about the Challenge here, and Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, Day 11, Day 12, Day 13, Day 14, Day 15, Day 16, Day 17, and Day 18.
Bon Soir my friends and welcome to Day 19!
Please do not adjust your monitor, the picture above is of me on my deck but on Day 19 I was in fact still in Melbourne at my parents house!
Day 19 happened to be the day of my grandmother’s funeral and so although I wore the correct clothes (though not at the funeral. I wore a black dress to that, this one in fact), both my sister and I spent the whole day helping with various preparations and so I didn’t manage to take any photos of myself.
Oh noes!
Luckily, through the magic of blogging, I was able to snap these today so you would know about what I looked like. So without further adieu here is the OOTD:

I did not look this relaxed on the actual day 19. Details: Shirt- XXI, Skirt- URBN, Shoes- AE. Necklace- Vintage inherited from my Granny Bamy

Sugar and spice and everything nice?

Money for a phone call or bus fare for back in day when my Grandmother was young and money was actually worth something ;D
Lucky’s Day 19 involved wearing the shirt untucked so as to look casual and ‘whatev’ and I knew right away that it would not be an ideal look for me. But I did it anyway (at least in the photos) to demonstrate perhaps the most important key to dressing well:
Love thy body, but know thy body!
I have a long torso and short legs, and over the years I’ve learned how to dress so that my body looks proportionate (not that there is anything wrong with having short legs and a long torso, but that is another blog in itself and you know what I mean!)..Now I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve worn some crazy get-ups in my day (backless shirts, semi see-through pants, corsets..I could go on) but one thing you will never see me wear is a long shirt untucked with a full skirt and flats like the photos above.
Why? Because it just emphasizes my long torso, short legs, and bubble butt. Incidentally, I think this also makes me look even shorter than I really am (5’4″ ish). Now I am a fairly petite person, but it really doesn’t matter what my weight is, this would not be a truly flattering look even if I was unhealthily thin. It is about proportions not size.

Long torso? Tuck the shirt in!
An easy fix for me would be to tuck in the shirt and/or put on a shoe with a little height or a long line (the ankle strap cuts my leg line and makes it look shorter, but a pair of pointy toed flats would elongate). Now I haven’t seen Nico’s Day 19, but I have a feeling this outfit would look a lot more flattering on her because she and I have almost exactly opposite body types. Her short torso and long legs would do a lot more for this outfit.
Lucky has had some fabulous ideas that have really helped me see and stretch my wardrobe in fun and new directions but there are very few of us that have a body like their model where every outfit will look flattering, so sometimes we have to tell Lucky that we know best and tweak the look.
So that’s Angelyn’s Tip O’ the Day.
Ha, I think I’ve created a new feature. What do you think?
Anyway I didn’t take any photos of me on Day 19, but I did take a few of Opie! Shall we take a look-see?

Day 19 on a scale of 1-10: Ease of wear- 4 (with shirt untucked). Personal excitement factor- 4. Knowing how to dress for your body type- 10.
So there you have it!
What do you have for me?! Is there an outfit type you know looks awful on your body type that you refuse to wear? Do you have a favorite ‘go to’ silhouette to you know always looks awesome on your body? What are your thoughts on painting baby’s toenails?
Take care and see you later!
