This is day twelve of a series I’m doing that features a month of outfits. Read my intro here, find out about the Challenge here, and Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, and Day 11.
Hello, Long time no see! Don’t worry, it’s not you, it’s me.
I can’t tell you exactly what has been sucking up my time other than the usual, but blogging hasn’t been it. Bad Angelyn! Luckily, I’ve still been taking pictures.
Since I’ve kept you waiting long enough, here is the OOTD:

The Deets: Yellow Top, Peacock Earrings and Sunnies- XXI. Blazer and Skinny jeans- Gap. Booties- Target. Bag- Gryson for Target, Scarf- Proenza Schouler for Target.
First off, Calliope is teething and in a foul mood, so that is what’s up with that. I think I’ll still keep her. Ha, But what do you think outfit-wise?
When I saw that the blazer from Day 9 was back, coupled with a similar panted look, I was more than a little concerned. However, I must say I’m pleasantly surprised! The jacket with rolled skinnies is not something I would have ever thought to pair together- it has a bit of a ‘don’t F with me’ vibe goin on, which isn’t something I’m usually drawn to, but I kind of love this look.
The jacket looks great with this silhouette, and is thankfully back earning its staple status, and I must say I’m relieved, because my faith in it was definitely shaken the other day!
As for the jeans: I bought these skinnies early on post-partum because oddly enough, I missed my Gap Maternity skinny jeans. I normally wouldn’t have gone with the side zippers, but they were super on clearance, and I am <read: should be> on a budget. It took me a long time to jump on the skinny bandwagon (I’ve always been into the trouser jean), but for a short and bubble-hineyed lady like me, I think the slimmer cut is actually flattering when put into the right pair.
Another oddity: even as a self-described heel girl, I’ve never worn these jeans with heels before! Usually I pair them with a certain pair of electric blue pointy flats that I own (sadly not part of the challenge) or good old flip flops. Also, I’ve never thought to roll the skinnies, but the more I think about it, it is a great fit solution for us short-legged gals. I definitely prefer these pants rolled to the ‘boyfriend jeans‘ from Day 9, at least on my body type.
At any rate, next time I have an unpleasant customer service phone call to get over with I know what I am going to wear. Watch out world, I’m going to take you over!…But first, lets look at the accessories:
The obvious bag choice for today in my mind would have been the Fakey Chanel, but I wanted something a little less ‘spoiled’ if you know what I mean, so I opted for my trusty Gryson for Target purse from a few years back. It is a lovely shade of blue-grey, and taps into the nautical look that has come back into vogue. For good measure, I tied my silk scarf on it (which is how I normally style this bag).
For the earrings (Lucky’s Day 12, had a chunky necklace, which I vetoed), I wanted something a little large and flashy. I toyed with a couple different pairs, but decided that these peacock numbers were a fun choice.
Of course my favorite accessory (besides Calliope, who was not much fun today;) is the mimosa! I tried a bottle of Prosecco for the first time (this is the one I tried, feel free to give me your recommendations!) and enjoyed it, but was craving a mimosa so I added a little OJ. Mimosas are one of my guilty pleasures, along with Phil Collins and Dancing with the Stars. Nuff said!
All in all I enjoyed day 12. It stretched me, but I thought it was a fun stretch.
Day 12 on a scale of 1-10: Ease of Wear-7. Personal Excitement- 7. Calliope’s teething- .01
Hoi Polloi tell me your feelings! Is this look bad ‘A’, or just bad? What are your thoughts on heels and jeans, Do you feel the blazer works better here than in Day 9 ? And in a twist of fate, do you think Calliope is cuter when she’s grumpy? ;D
