This is day fourteen of a series I’m doing that features a month of outfits. Read my intro here, find out about the Challenge here, and Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, Day 11, Day 12, and Day 13.
Good Evening Dahlings!
I’ve been trying desperately to catch up on my blogging to no avail. Nicole says that it builds anticipation to skip a day here and there. Under the circumstances, I hope so! It has not been helping me one bit that my battery charger is on the fritz. Tonight I am determined though, and to keep my computer alive I have MacGyver-ed it with a rubberband and a prayer…and… so far so good! Calliope staying asleep however= epic fail.
Oh well, I guess you can’t win them all!
On with the OOTD:

Details: Dress- Anthropologie, Jacket- Gap, Shoes- Oh Deer!, Purse- Guess, Scarf- Vintage inherited from my Great-Grandmother, Flower Pin- Vintage bought in St Augustine.
Today struck me as super retro inspired..at least my Day 14 did. If you look at Lucky’s Day 14 it looks perfectly modern. I think this demonstrates what a huge difference that the actual wardrobe pieces make in determining the look. In fact, to further cement the point, go to Nico’s blog and check out her wrap up of week two and look at her day 14. I would never believe that these are all the same ‘outfit’. Anyway, back to my commentary:
Yup, definitely retro.
I feel like I’ve stepped out of Madmen.
Luckily for me, I love Madmen and vintage looks, so it’s all good. This dress was bought from Anthropologie and really I’m not surprised it lends itself to looking from another era, plus, the scarf and pin actually are vintage, so at the end of the day it all makes sense. Since the dress seemed to ask for it, I just went with the old school vibe and tied the scarf in a ‘girl scout chic’ kind of way, put on the semi-mod flower pin, and added the pink purse for some color interest. One odd phenomenon: The orange shoes almost felt boring to me since they’ve been worn a lot the past couple of days. Do you agree? I still love them, I’m just calling them as I see them people!
I will say that although very different from the more modern looks of the last few days, I really enjoyed wearing this. It was comfortable, very easy to feed Opie in, and made me wish dresses like this were de rigueur (see that, you can speak french in this dress and not seem overly pretentious!) instead of jeans and a t-shirt.
Did I just say ‘Opie”? Why Hello Calliope!
Calliope, on the other hand, looks very modern in her Baby Gap dress and trendy straw hat. I would have taken full length photos together for a cute lil juxtaposition, but as fate would have it her nap time was my photo time, and after that it poured rain and that was that. Oh well, we don’t want to get into a picture rut now do we!?!
Day 14 on a scale of 1-10: Ease of Wear-8. Personal Excitement- 7. Madmen Fabulousness: 8.5 The fact that my computer stayed powered while writing this blog- 10.
What do mes amis think about today? Too retro, or perfect amount of retro? Do you like the brown dress? Is the scarf too much for you? Should we just scrap my challenge and just post pics of Calliope in cute dresses?
Ha!

It feels very odd to comment on multiple posts in one night. Blazer, pin, scarf combo is wonderful! Really, I can’t say enough about it. I am a sucker for it. I love the dress, too, and the retro vibe. Sans blazer, I am not digging the scarf with the outfit as much. I think I’d rather see a statement necklace (or belt) without the blazer. Yeah, commenting on multiple posts is odd. It makes me feel way too critical. You have kick-ass style and have rocked every look you have put together so far, ma’am. You have a great flair for fashion (and writing).
Oh and for the record, I definitely don’t think the challenge should be scrapped, however if it meant more cute Calliope pictures I may be game. She is one cutie-pa-tootie!
WOW Ang! I have finally have had time at work to pull out my laptop and catch up on your blog and I have only one thing to say (ok, a lot more than one thing but…). Please, please, please continue to write about fashion after the Lucky Challenge is done! As I am a total tomboy, refuse to wear anything I’m not 100% comfortable in, usually in scrubs 90% of the time (or pjs!), awkward about my body type (tall, moma hips, broad shoulders, and prego! ha!) and have not a fashion bone in my body I NEED your blog! And, I’m volunteering to be your before and after makeover assignment! lol. Anyways, on a side not, chin up dear heart, it is ok to let the house go and focus on something that makes you and Calliope happy! The mess will always be there (wait!, I didn’t mean that literally!) but she will be grown and gone in the blink of an eye.
Angelyn,
You look adorable in anything you put on! Love the
Calliope ensembles especially her signature beads:-)
But of course I am a bit biased!
I have quite the gorgeous sister. Love the outfit and love you! This is definitely an outfit to remember once it begins to cool off outside because the dress, jacket, and scarf combo is fantastic!
And my niece is looking adorable and I can’t wait to see her!
