This is day sixteen of a series I’m doing that features a month of outfits. Read my intro here, find out about the Challenge here, and Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, Day 11, Day 12, Day 13, Day 14, and Day 15.
Whew! This has been quite a week.
Andrew was out of town for the first time since Calliope was a month old, and I packed up Opie and the pups and went to Melbourne to stay with my parents/help out/go to my grandmother’s funeral. So yeah that all happened. I am truly sorry that I have not kept up on the blogging, but rest assured, I will eventually get around to documenting and blogging every day of this challenge. It goes without saying that I have been faithfully wearing the outfits…well I should say almost faithfully. Today I went rogue!
Lucky’s Day 16 utilized the trench, the patterned skirt, and the puff sleeved top. I tried it all on, and it looked great! But…
I’ve been getting increasingly frustrated with Lucky’s unequal use of all the wardrobe items, at the same time, I have been wanting to wear the pencil skirt again since that first wearing all the way back in Day 2 , and so I decided to make a <tiny> substitution.
Behold, Day 16 OOTD:
Ok so I made a few substitutions! The trench and scarf were not going to happen; I’m all for being true to the challenge, but I am not going to give myself heat stroke! The skirt I already fessed up to, and as for the shoes: The black booties looked great with the original Day 16 skirt, but with the leather pencil, not. so. much. Forgive me Lucky, I have sinned, but at least I look great!
What does a gal like me go out to do when I’m looking like this while my man is out of town?
Why go to a Mommy play date of course! Just FYI, we don’t call it ‘playdate’, us cool kids call it “Sophie Club” in honor of the ubiquitous giraffe that all of our children have.
I thought it might be fun to document Calliope’s outfit by taking some photos of Sophie Club, so that’s what I did:

Playdate photos! On Calliope: Top- Threadless. Skirt- Gift from Aunt Kelley. Diaper- Flip. Necklace- Tweet Baby Designs
Just in case the photos aren’t making it obvious, we had a wonderful time! It has been fun watching our babies grow up and develop together, and I hope we continue the tradition as they cease to be babies and become toddlers (sniff, mine first).
But this is a currently a fashion blog so back to the outfit commentary. I very much enjoyed wearing this outfit, but you already knew that since I put it together! In particular, I enjoyed the earrings:
I am in love with the feather trend, both in home decor and fashion, so these earrings are really doing it for me right about now. It also helps that they are light so not too bad when lil C decides to pull on them. Who knew that was going to become such a fashion consideration?!
Day 16 on a scale of 1-10: Ease of wear- 9. Personal excitement factor: 8 Satisfaction from a bit of cheating- 10.
And now its your turn to express yourself! Do you like my substitution or should I have left it well enough alone? Are you liking the feather trend? Today, Opie was wearing a very feminine skirt with a boyish top, did you like the pattern mix?
